This Week's Newsletter

Director's Notes
It's getting to be a very busy time for the HCMS Band! Please be sure to look through the weekly newsletter each week so you can keep up-to-date on everything that is going on!
We are getting to the point in the semester where several students are starting to run short of some supplies. Please be sure all clarinets/saxes have at least 3 good reeds and all 7/8 grade percussionists have all necessary mallets. Percussion - mallets can be ordered through the HCMS Band if needed.
HCMS VS MCNAIR (6:30) - TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22- REQUIRED GAME (7TH/8TH GRADE)
WHO: 7th and 8th Grade Band Students
WHAT TO WEAR: Band T-shirt/Hoodie, Khaki Shorts/Pants, Tennis Shoes (As the weather is getting cooler, please feel free to layer or bring jackets as needed. We do want to try to be as uniform as we can, but we want to make sure everyone is warm too!)
WHAT TO BRING: Instrument (please leave case in car), flip folder with music, lyre, bottle of water
WHERE: Milton Frank Stadium
WHEN: Call Time is 6:00 p.m. - We meet by the Front Gate at MIlton Frank Stadium. The game will last until roughly 8:15 - depending on when the game starts.
Thank you for your assistance with these games! Please remember that we have cut back on the total number of required games this year in an effort to help students with multiple commitments, but we do count on having all students present. These dates have been included in the first day packet and each newsletter.
Additional Info
We will not be taking a bus to these games. We ask parents to transport their children to Milton Frank Stadium and home afterwards.
Chaperones - If you are available to chaperone, please email hcovemsband@gmail.com.
Parents who would like to attend the game will need to purchase tickets online at GoFan. Tickets typically "go live" on Go Fan on game days.
Please remember that Milton Frank has a clear bag policy for all guests!
The game should last until about 8:15 - depending on when we get started and whether or not they take heat breaks. Students may bring phones to text you before the 4th quarter. (Please plan to be in the vicinity for pick-up around 8:15 so we can get all students home in a timely manner.)
Percussion students will get their equipment off of the band trailer when they arrive and are responsible for loading it back up when we leave. Percussion will need to stay until we are sure everything has been loaded up.
Housekeeping issues for football games:
Students should bring a bottle of water for the stands and are welcome to wear sunglasses.
We will not be eating food in the stands and greatly appreciate your assistance with that matter. Please do not bring food up to students during the game.
Please encourage students to use the restroom before the game.
Students may have phones with them so they can notify you when the game is about to end but all phones must be put away during the game itself.
BUTTER BRAID FUNDRAISER We have started our second fundraiser to raise money for new lockers. We will be selling Butter Braid frozen pastries. Information is listed below and was sent home with students on Thursday. Students may collect orders (and payments) via the paper form OR set up an online store (where all payments are handled online). All orders are due October 23 at 3:00 p.m. Delivery will occur on November 14th with pick-up in the HCMS Cafeteria from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
CONCERT UNIFORMS (7TH/8TH GRADE) Paperwork for concert uniforms has been sent home with all 7th/8th grade (except 4th period 8th grade - who will get it tomorrow). You can also find this packet below in our paperwork section. We are asking for a $25 uniform rental fee to help us offset the cost of cleaning. This may be paid via cash/check (HCMS Band) or on MySchoolFees. We will not be able to distribute a uniform until this payment has been collected. Please sign and return the green sheet from your uniform packet and your $25 payment as soon as possible this week. If you have financial concerns or questions, please contact Ms. Parker or Mr. Moran. Thank you so much for helping us collect these funds quickly!
HALLOWEEN CONCERT Our Halloween Concert (7th/8th Grade and Jazz) will be Tuesday, October 29 at 6:00 p.m. We will be moving the location to the Huntsville High School Auditorium, in an effort to help those with students in both the HCMS and HHS Bands. The HHS Band will be performing their Fall Concert on that same night beginning at 7:30. All are welcome to stay and listen to their concert as well! HCMS Students will wear their Halloween Costume or football band uniform for this performance.
SPEAKING OF HALLOWEEN...If you happen to have any extra Halloween candy left over from trick-or-treating, please consider donating it to the HCMS Band! We like to keep incentives on hand to reward our students for exemplary behavior, musical progress, etc.
