For Rising 6th Graders

Rising sixth-graders, we can't wait for you to join the band!

Welcome to the largest middle school band program in the Huntsville area. We have the perfect place just for YOU!

Students and their families do NOT need to have any prior knowledge/experience with music to join the band. We will help your student have everything they need to succeed!

The process starts In the spring of your student's fifth-grade year

As part of the band, each student will complete an instrument try-out session, where he/she can try all the instruments we offer in band class and see which they like the best and which is the best fit for them. In the band program, students can play flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French Horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba and percussion.

Ms Parker likes to complete these "tryouts" one-on-one with students and their families so she can give them her full attention and get to know them better. Tryout sessions last about 15 minutes, and will take place in the Hampton Cove Band Room (located at 261-B Old Highway 431 on the back side of the school building).

Sign up now to find your instrument!

Choose a time slot for your student's instrument tryout on Sign-Up Genius. (Additional dates and times are added throughout the spring —Please check back shortly, or contact Ms Parker if you don't see any available spots)

The day of your tryout:

On the day of your student's tryout, we recommend coming to the back side of the school to avoid traffic.

From the Eastern Bypass, turn onto Old Highway 431 (the road Hampton Cove Middle School is on).  Take the first RIGHT onto Audobon Lane and the first LEFT onto Masters Drive (at the stop sign).  There is a small parking lot there for you to use, or you can park along the track if it is during the evening.

The band room is the single door located at the end of the first covered walkway. Ms Parker will have the door unlocked so you can come on in!

There's no need to bring anything with youunless you happen to have an instrument already your student is thinking of playing and need Ms Parker to look it over.

She will provide you with all the information you need for your child to be successful in band, as well as answer any questions you may have. This can seem daunting — but rest assured, we have plenty of time to get everything you need ready for next school year.
