Week at a Glance
Monday, March 25 - Spring Fundraiser Begins

Thursday, March 21 (3:00-3:45) - Jazz Band (preparation for Solo/Ensemble Contest)
The Band Room will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 7:30-7:50 for Solo & Ensemble practice if anyone would like to use it.
Spring Fundraiser. Our Spring Fundraiser with Charleston Wraps starts Monday, March 25. Packets went home with your child at the end of last week. Forty percent of the proceeds (35% for personalized items) will go to the band. Register at www.registercw.com. Organization ID is in the packet. All online orders are directly shipped to the purchaser. The fundraiser will end April 6.
Solo and Ensemble (April 6). Times should be provided by the District this week. I will distribute those as soon as possible.
Spirit Night. Thanks to all the families who joined us at our Five Guys Spirit Night. We appreciate your support!
Beginner Band (6th Grade). Playing test on the Eb concert scale this week.
Symphonic Band (7th/8th Grade). Upcoming this week:
Schoology test this week on Ab concert scale (already posted).
Donut prize for all students who pass off 6 scales by Monday, April 1.
Rising 9th Grade HHS Band. Deadlines are upcoming:
Submit HHS Band Contract by Friday, March 29th (email to Stuart.tankesley@hsv-k12.org or turn into Ms. Parker.
Audition music has been posted to the google drive. Auditions are May 6-10.

Reminders
Spring Concert Date Change. In order to prevent a conflict with the Athletic Banquet, the Spring Concert will be moved to May 16 at 6:00 (call time 5:30) in the Huntsville High School Auditorium. The Spring Concert is a requirement for all band students.
8th graders - Huntsville HS Band Contracts - Due Friday, March 29. You can find the electronic copy of our band contract here<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1U-DueIerDEAAvZlmydlNcug0FwaEzZYZ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=108710958216948422446&rtpof=true&sd=true>. Contracts can be emailed back to us at Stuart.tankesley@hsv-k12.org, placed in the box labeled "Band Contracts" in the Huntsville HS band room, or given to your middle school director. These contracts are essential in determining numbers for marching band and other classes for next year. Email stuart.tankesley@hsv-k12.org if you have any questions.
8th graders - Huntsville HS Band Audition Music. Audition music has been released and is available in our Google drive and we will also get copies to our middle school band directors. 2024-2025 HCMS Band Parent Association Board. 6th & 7th Grade Parents are you interested in becoming a bigger part of the amazing HCMS Band? Many of our current board members are parents of 8th graders so we will have several positions opening up. These positions have different skill sets and varying levels of commitment. A listing of our current board members and their responsibilities can be found here. If you are interested or considering volunteering, please send an email to hcovemsband@gmail.com.

HCMS Band Spirit Night at Handel’s Ice Cream / Jones Valley
Stop in for a sweet treat at Handel’s in Jones Valley (1303 Four Mile Post Rd SE) and support the HCMS band! From 6pm to 8pm on April 18, Handels will donate a percentage of your purchase to our band when you mention us at checkout.

Band Contracts Due. Band Contracts are due by March 29 and can be turned in to Ms. Parker or emailed to Stuart Tankesley.
Color Guard Auditions. April 29-May 3, 4:00 to 6:00 PM @ Huntsville High School. For all interested in being in Color Guard
Concert Band Auditions. May 6 - 10, After School @ Huntsville High School. Required audition for placement for all band students
Marching Percussion Auditions. May 10-11, Friday: 4-8 & Saturday: 8:30-12:30 @ Huntsville High School. Required for all percussion in marching band
Rookie Camp. May 28-31, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, @ Huntsville High School. Required for new members, leadership team, Color Guard Camp
Make-up Rookie Camp. July 10-12, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM @ Huntsville High School. New members that did not attend Rookie Camp
Marching Percussion Camp. July 10-12, 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM @ Huntsville High School. Required for percussion in marching band
Band Camp Week #1. July 15-19, All Day @ Huntsville High School. Required for all marching band students
Band Camp Week #2. July 22-26, All Day @ Huntsville High School. Required for all marching band students. Band Camp on July 26th will dismiss at noon.
DCI in Murfreesboro (Optional). July 26, Afternoon/Evening, Meet at HHS and ride bus to Murfreesboro. Additional Cost.
Reminders for Daily Band Class Success:
All Band Members:
Ensure your name is on all band instruments, books and supplies. With so many coming in and out of the room each day, it really helps to be sure everyone keeps up with their things!
Add Flair to your instrument case to make it easier to find!
Don't forget your pencil and band folder.
Beginning Band: bring your Red Tradition of Excellence Book 1 daily (Available at all local music stores and on Amazon)
Symphonic Band (7th/8th Grade): bring your Blue Tradition of Excellence Book 2 daily (Available at local music stores and on Amazon)
Clarinet / Sax Players: Have at least 3 good reeds (strength 2.5) with you
Percussionists: Bring your drumsticks, yarn mallets, rubber mallets, bell (hard) mallets and stick bag
