Director's Notes

We hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving Break!  Our Holiday Concert is THIS Friday and we are very excited to share our music with you!  Feel free to invite friends and family - there is no cost for the concert and it is sure to put you in the holiday spirit! 

• HOLIDAY CONCERT  Our Holiday Concert will be Friday, December 6 in the Huntsville High School Auditorium!  This is a required event for all HCMS Band students and is sure to be an incredible night!

  • • WHO: All HCMS Band Students

    • WHAT TO BRING: Instrument (Cases may be left in cars), Music, Extra Reeds/Valve Oil

    • WHAT TO WEAR: Concert Uniform (Beginners - HCMS Black Band Shirt, Khaki Pants, Tennis Shoes; Symphonic Band - Concert Uniform - Black Dress or Black Tux Shirt/Pants, Red Vest, BLACK DRESS SHOES)

    • WHERE: Huntsville High School Auditorium

    • WHEN: 6:00 p.m. (Call Time 5:30)

      • Call Time is 5:30 for HCMS Students. At that time, Beginners will find their seats on stage and Jazz Band will find their seats in the Jazz Set-Up in front of the stage.  7th/8th Grade Band members will have reserved seats in the auditorium where they will sit for the beginning of the concert.  After the beginners perform, 7th/8th grade will swap seats with the beginners, who will sit all together during the concert.  The entire concert should conclude around 7:15. 

• THANKSGIVING Thanksgiving Bingo cards have been sent home and posted on Schoology on Friday, November 22.  This is an optional activity for students but a great way to keep practicing over the long break!

• SUPPLIES Please be sure your student has all necessary items for band class, especially as we prepare for our big holiday concert.  Clarinet and Saxophone players must have at least 3 good reeds at all times.  Percussion (7th/8th Grade) must have a stick bag, yarn mallets, bell mallets, rubber mallets and drumsticks.  Items may be purchased through the band program if it helps you.  Please email Ms. Parker or Mr. Moran with questions.

• SYMPHONIC BAND UNIFORMS If any part of your student's symphonic band uniform does not fit, please have them return it to Ms. Parker so we can swap it out for an alternate size.  Please help us take care of this as soon as possible so we can order new sizes if necessary and have them in time for the Holiday Concert.
